A day trip in Kao Shiung

I should have posted about my weekend trip last night, but I just don't have the motivation and I posted about my feelings instead. Emoness go away! Heeee. Now, I am going to talk about my trip! This was my second time been to Kao Shiung. The nurse family brought me to Rainbow Military Dependents' Village in the afternoon. Those army's wives used to stay there, now they were moved to another area by the government. Then a group of artists/teenagers came and painted the wall in the village. Before we visit the village, we went to a famous restaurant nearby to have lunch.

So filling!

Had mochi  and yogurt pudding as dessert

After that, we went to National Science and Technology museum for the robot fair. The fair was DISAPPOINTING. We stayed for a while then left. We went to other parts of the museum and had lots of fun :)

After spending 3 hours in the museum, we headed to Liu He night market for dinner. We walked to Mei Li Dao train station which only 3 minutes walking distance, it is the second prettiest train station of the world.

The ceiling is really beautiful!

Amazing work!

That's all for today! I will post about Sunday trip on Saturday :) Tomorrow I am going to post about graduation ceremony at my school. Stay tuned!

The one that got away

Even though you are thousand miles away,
Even though I can't see your smile,
Even though I can't hear your voice,
Even though I can't feel your touch,
But I still miss you alot.

Today I did something bad. Really bad. However, now I know how do you exactly feel. I doubt the decision I made in April.

Still trying very hard to get over you. Not talking to you just make me miss you more and more. Those memories kept coming back and they are going to tear my heart apart. Is this a punishment for me to push away someone who loves me?

I hate saying this, but you really deserve someone better. I am such a bitch who doesn't know how to appreciate and take things for granted. No word can describe how I feel now... a mixed feeling of guilty, sad, jealous, loved and pain.

Do you still remember the song 'The one that got away' by Katy Perry? That was my very first time angry at you and I dedicated this song to you. Now, this song, again, is just perfect for our situation.

Summer after high school when we first met
We make-out in your Mustang to Radiohead
And on my 18th Birthday
We got matching tattoos

Used to steal your parents' liquor
And climb to the roof
Talk about our future
Like we had a clue
Never planned that one day
I'd be losing you

In another life
I would be your girl
We keep all our promises
Be us against the world

In another life
I would make you stay
So I don't have to say
You were the one that got away
The one that got away

I was June and you were my Johnny Cash
Never one without the other We made a pact
Sometimes when I miss you
I put those records on (whoa)

Someone said you had your tattoo removed
Saw you downtown singing the Blues
It's time to face the music
I'm no longer your muse

But in another life
I would be your girl
We keep all our promises
Be us against the world

In another life
I would make you stay
So I don't have to say
You were the one that got away
The one that got away
The one The one The one
The one that got away

I hope I would be your girl again in next life. And we will love each other till the end.

Kenting

I know this was long ago... but I am going to update about my Kenting trip today! The second weekend in Taiwan I went to Kenting with a bunch of Aiesecers: Alistair from Johor, Jenny from Canada and Andrew from US. We visited Kenting beach, Kenting night market and Er Luan Bi lighthouse. With these awesome people, this trip was really fun! Alistair, Jenny and I met at Xin Ying train station and bought a train ticket to Xin Zhuo Ying station which costs NTD110, while Andrew took 'Kao Tie' high-speed train from Chia Yi. Then, all of us took a bus to Kenting. My ticket costs only NTD 650 for return. Their single way ticket costs NTD450, slightly expensive. On Sunday, I took bus and train back to San Hua, Tainan while 3 of them continued their journey.

Assisting English teacher and gifts for children

Yesterday I assisted the English teacher, Elizabeth (I called her Lizzy) because I do not have any classes. Grade 6 students had finished their exams last week, thus Lizzy played an animation movie for the guys to watch, meanwhile, the girls preferred to practice dance in the theater hall.

But for other grades, they need to do revision and exam. After they finished their exam, I played some games with them. Meanwhile, Lizzy was busy marking their papers. I asked all of them to stand up, and tell me 2 types of fruits and animals in English, then they can sit down. In another game, I make them into 2 groups. I will tell the first person a sentence, for example: 'My mother is a doctor' and then he has to pass it to the person behind, and they will have to pass the message to the last person. The last person has to tell me the sentence without any mistake. It was funny because sometimes they made mistakes when passing the message. Nonetheless, we had a good time.

This morning assembly, I prepared some gifts for the first 3 children in class who passed the English conversation test. Here are some photos:

Hehe my gifts

With grade 3 students

Hope they like the little gifts I brought from Malaysia! Grade 2 and grade 1 students do not have these gifts because they did not pass the English conversation test, and I gave them a simpler version. However, all of them passed the test  because it is too simple and I do not have enough gifts for them. Therefore, I will give them lollipops as reimbursements. That's all for today :) I am going to update about Kenting trip tomorrow! Stay tuned!

A trip to Ping Tung and Kao Shiung

The nurse in my school brought me to Ping Tung and Kao Shiung yesterday. First, we went to Taiwan Indigenous People Culture Park (台灣原住民族文化園區), which located at Ping Tung. We had to pay NTD150 for a person, or NTD80 for student and old folks.

The entrance

The pillars were made of Slate (石板)

There is a fountain right in front of the entrance

We went to the souvenir shops to take a look. Most of the products they sell are art crafts or handmade stuffs. They sell alcohol too. Indigenous people like to drink and their rice wine is very well-known. I tried abit but I think the taste is too strong for me.

In the souvenir shop

Coins purse made of coconut shell

The lady is persuading us to try and buy her wines

I bought a small bottle of grape wine from her. It costs NTD100 only. After that, we went to the stage part to watch performance. They have this "welcoming ceremony" whereas they lit up the fire crackers, after that they sang and danced for us. Unfortunately, we sat at the front row, the fire cracker's booming sound was really loud and scared us.

They were singing their traditional song.

The girl was explaining about the bamboo firecracker

Started!

After the welcoming ceremony, we took the bus provided by the culture park to a theater hall. Before we get into the hall, they gave us a stick of dried grass, and we lit it up. They said this would bless us.

Waiting for the bus

The dried grass

lit it up (God will bless us!)

We went in and sat there for an hour! The performance was a bit long to be frank. We were really bored and tired when the performance was about to end. Despite the long timing, their performance was awesome and all of them sang really well! Their traditional clothes were pretty and interesting.

I like this performance the most! Drums playing

Colourful traditional clothes

They asked us to clap and sing along

Drama

Praying dance

Sing and dance for the collection of millet

After the performance ended, I took a picture with one of the guys. He is really tall!!

A photo with the nurse's family

We were really hungry and the nurse's husband brought us to a restaurant nearby for lunch. The food there was delicious. The chicken they used for dishes were all 'kampung chicken'. These chicken were left to run anywhere they want to, thus they called it '土鸡'. I hope these pictures will not make you drool :P

The mountain vege

Fried fishes

Stone chicken 石头土鸡

Slate pork (I will rate this 4.5 out of 5!)

We left Ping Tung with a full and happy stomach, headed to Kao Shiung to spend the remaining hours. Before leaving to Kao Shiung, the father suddenly turned into another road and told us he wanted to bring me to an old church (萬金聖母聖殿). The kids complained like hell. LOL. In the end we still visited the church (Of course! Who is the driver? :p)

Taking pic in front of the old church

Inside of the church

They have a small garden behind the chuch

We visited Dream Mall after this. Dream Mall is the favourite place of every kid. They have thousand of stores selling kid's clothes and toys. There is a big book shop too.

The look from outside

They have a stage like this! So cute

At night, we went to Love River. It was really crowded!! They had dragon boat competition and night market. The nurse told me it wasn't like this usually, it was because of the Duanwu festival. We walked around and had dinner in a Japanese restaurant.
