望春風

In the end I still write a blog. I've been struggling if I should do this after coming to Taiwan. I want to record down every bits in my journey to Taiwan. However I am really lazy and I worried that this blog will be abandoned and I'll leave there to rot after awhile. BUT! I need a place to express my feelings and thoughts.

The desire to share is too strong and thus, here it goes :)

This morning I heard a hokkien song called 望春風 at my school. This song reminds me of my grandma. When I was really young, she would sing some songs to  me before I sleep. 望春風 is one of those songs. Even though I don't understand Hokkien, but I really like the rhythm.

I decided to learn how to sing this song from my student. When I am back to Malaysia, I can sing to my grandma ;) Hehe. My very kind principal explained the meaning of the song to me. This song is describing a feeling of a young lady, having a crush on a guy and wanted to marry him. However she was too shy to confess, and she waited for the guy to look for her. She heard someone seems to be at the door, but when she opens the door earnestly, it was actually the wind. The moon laughed at her for being a fool, as she got tricked by the breeze. Generally, this song is talking about a young lady's admiration, we would called it 少女青春情怀 in mandarin. This song is also Taiwanese's favourite ditty.

Last weekend I went on a trip with my friends. It was fun :) I will post some photos of my Kenting trip after getting back my camera. For now, I will share with you all what I've been teaching for last week and this week!

This is for children from grade 3 to grade 6

This is for children from grade 1 and grade 2

For grade 3 onwards, I will make them read from the paper at first, and then will have an English conversation with them. After they complete a sentence, I will stamp on their paper.

For grade 1 and grade 2, I realize this is too difficult for them. Therefore I created another simple conversation in daily life for them. We sat in a circle and practise all these greetings/sentences together. Waving to their friends and saying: "Hello Mary!" "Good morning Jack!" and so on.

That's all for today. Stay tuned! :p
