Bak Kut Teh and another day out in Tainan City

As promised, I cooked Bak Kut Teh on Saturday night for my host family. Due to the limited cooking utensils they have, I can only boil the soup with a small size pot. After 2 hours of cooking, half of the soup was evaporated and the principal has to add some water to it. I tried the soup and the Bak Kut Teh taste was lessened. Surprisingly, they like it very much. They said the taste was just perfect for them. If the taste is too strong they might not be able to accept it. Principal also cooked some cucumber (fried and also soup).

Preparing the ingredients

Done!

Yesterday I went to Tainan city with my host family. We had lunch in this Shanghai Xiao Lung Bao shop. The food was so-so, but the restaurant was really crowded.

After lunch, we went to the principal's in-laws' house. We stayed there for half an hour. Then, the principal's sister in-law brought us to the famous shopping mall in Taiwan called Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, while  principal and his wife went to a musical concert. There was a mission today: buy a dress for Jolin for her kindergarten graduation ceremony! In the end, we picked this:

This dress costs NTD7380!! The parents in Taiwan are really generous in buying clothes for their children =O

After that, we went to 6th floor to take a look. There was a Japanese products fair. They sold different kinds of Japanese food and snacks, products and even massage chair.

We bought ice-creams :P This was mine! It was grape flavor.

Jolin had strawberry flavor.

So many people!

They sold Jap rice tea too

Sister in-law bought us grilled squid.

After hunting for food, we went back to her house with a full stomach. However the in-laws are really friendly and hospitable. They offered me drinks and fruits... but I was too full =/ At 5.35pm (So early!!), we went out for dinner. They ordered many dishes; because I don't eat seafood, they ordered grilled pork, fried rice and fried chicken other than sushi and sashimi. The dinner made me feel like unzip my high-waist skirt. Lol. My tummy gonna burst!
